The Spent Nuclear Fuel Rail/Routing Ad Hoc Working Group (SNF R/R AHWG) was established to identify key issues relating from the NTSF community relating to rail transport for future DOE SNF transportation campaigns. The SNF R/R AHWG was initiated in May 2015 and sunset in May 2025.

The Communications and Outreach AHWG was established to help DOE effectively and accurately communicate about planned Spent Nuclear Fuel transportation and associated SNF management activities, including federal storage facilities. The working group provided input to DOE’s Office of Nuclear Energy on developing messages, strategies, and products to communicate effectively with Tribes, States, the general public, and other stakeholders.
